Get the wiring right before the drywall goes up

Open studs make electrical work quick and clean. Once the walls are closed, adding an outlet or shifting a light turns into cutting, patching and painting. That's why the electrical plan for a basement or renovation should be settled before framing is covered.

We take on basements, kitchens, bathrooms and additions, working for homeowners directly or as the electrician on a general contractor's team.

What we wire

Outlets where you need them

Placed around the furniture, TV and desk, with dedicated circuits for an office, media wall or workshop.

Lighting and fans

Pot lights, bathroom exhaust fans, dimmers and switches at every entrance and stairway.

Code-required safety

Smoke and CO alarms, plus AFCI and GFCI protection wherever the code requires it.

Kitchens and bathrooms

Counter and appliance circuits, GFCI protection and fan wiring.

Basement suites

Separate circuits and interconnected alarms for a secondary unit.

Basement Wiring in Caledonia: Rough-In to Final

  1. We go over the layout with you or your contractor and mark every outlet, switch and light.
  2. You receive a written quote, and we file the ESA permit.
  3. Rough-in wiring goes into the open framing, followed by the ESA rough-in inspection.
  4. Once drywall and paint are done, we install devices and fixtures and connect the panel.
  5. ESA completes the final inspection and the space is ready to use.

Lots of new circuits? Your panel may need more room. See panel upgrades or visit our residential electrician in Caledonia home page.

Plan your basement electrical

  • Sketch where the couch, TV, desk and exercise equipment will sit
  • Think about circuits for a home office, workshop or electric heat
  • Decide on lighting zones and where switches go at stairs and doorways
  • Rough in for a future wet bar, kitchenette or bathroom
  • Confirm the panel has open spaces before framing begins

How Much Does Basement Wiring Cost?

Pricing depends on the square footage, the number of outlets, lights and dedicated circuits, and whether the panel can take them. We quote from your drawings, or after walking through the space with you or your contractor.
