Clean light without bulky fixtures

Pot lights brighten a room without anything hanging from the ceiling. Modern slim LED models don't need a big housing, so they fit most ceilings, including insulated ones when you use the correct rated light.

Spacing makes or breaks the result. Too far apart leaves dark spots, and too close to a wall causes glare. We plan the layout room by room before any holes are cut.

Good places for pot lights

Kitchens

Bright, even light over counters, often paired with under-cabinet lighting.

Living rooms

Soft, dimmable light that works for movie night and cleaning day.

Basements

Low ceilings feel taller without fixtures hanging down.

Soffits

Wet-rated pot lights light up the front of the house and the walkway.

Pot Light Installation in Caledonia: What Happens

  1. We mark the layout on the ceiling with you so you can see the spacing first.
  2. A small hole is cut for each light and wire is run between them.
  3. Lights are connected to a new or existing switch, usually on a dimmer.
  4. Every light is tested and the dust is cleaned up.

Most rooms are done in a day or less. For a full lighting plan, see our lighting contractor page or the Caledonia electrician team home page.

Choosing pot lights

Colour temperature

Warm white (2700K–3000K) suits living spaces. Neutral white (3500K–4000K) suits kitchens and work areas. Some lights let you switch.

Size

Four-inch lights look sleeker. Six-inch lights spread light wider, so you need fewer.

Dimmers

LED-rated dimmers prevent flicker and buzz and let one room suit any time of day.

How Much Does Pot Light Installation Cost?

Pot lights typically cost about $150 to $300 per light installed. A project of 10 to 20 lights often lands around $1,500 to $5,000, depending on attic access, the ceiling type, the lights you choose and whether a new switch or dimmer is needed.

Pot Light Installation questions

How many pot lights does a room need?

It depends on the room's size and ceiling height. We space them for even light without overdoing it.

Can they go in an insulated ceiling?

Yes, using IC-rated lights designed to touch insulation.

Will my ceiling get torn up?

No. Most installs only need the hole for each light, with the odd small access hole for routing wire.

Can pot lights dim?

Yes. We use LED-compatible dimmers for smooth, flicker-free dimming.
